Dr. Harvey J. Mahler may recommend porcelain dental veneers to enhance your smile. Veneers are typically recommended to:
- Close large gaps or spaces between the teeth
- Whitening teeth which have been severely stained or discolored
- Improve irregularly shaped or slightly crooked teeth
- Restore teeth which are broken, chipped or otherwise damaged
Dental veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells. These shells are custom-made to fit your teeth and smile perfectly, and they are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth to correct the flaws in your smile and provide you with results that are picture-perfect and long-lasting. While veneers can be made of several materials, we have chosen to use porcelain in our office because it mimics the appearance of your tooth enamel to give you a naturally beautiful solution that will boost your self-confidence. Porcelain is also stain-resistant, so your smile will stay bright and beautiful for years to come.
Veneers typically require only two appointments to complete. During the first appointment, our dentist will prepare your teeth to receive the veneers, including taking an impression from which the veneers will be created. He will also help you select the proper shade of white for your veneers. The impression will then be sent to a lab where the veneers will be created. When you return for your second appointment, Dr. Mahler will place the veneers on your teeth and check to ensure that they fit properly before bonding them into place. Finally, the veneers will be polished so that you can leave our office with a renewed smile.
