For those who feel nervous about their treatment or normally get anxious before visiting the dentist’s office, sedation dentistry can be a very likely solution. We offer several sedation options:
- Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a gaseous mixture of oxygen and very mild sedative. It is inhaled before or during your treatment to help you feel more relaxed and at ease. It lasts for only a few minutes after the patient stops breathing it in.
- Oral sedation is a sedative that is prescribed to the patient and taken as a pill before their next visit. It ensures that by the time you arrive to Smile 312, you will feel calm.
- IV sedation is when a patient receives sedative medication intravenously (through the veins). Sedation is delivered quickly and precisely this way and is a form of conscious sedation, so you will not be made unconscious by it. You may be so relaxed, though, that you fall asleep and forget the details of your treatment.
