Are You Suffering From Jaw, Facial, or Head Pain?
Recently, a patient came to Dr. Harvey J. Mahler after enduring TMJ pains for over 25 years. He had difficulty opening and closing his jaw, and his jaw kept locking. With over 35 years of experience in treating TMD, our dentist was able to improve this patient’s jaw function, oral health and overall quality of life when others could not.
What is TMD?
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the hinge that connects the lower jaw to the skull, and when it becomes injured or misaligned, it can cause serious oral health issues. There are many symptoms of TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder) that could be affecting your quality of life. These include headaches, facial pain, pain behind the eyes, discomfort and limited mobility of the mouth, pain when chewing or biting, neck pain, jaw or ear problems, teeth grinding, clicking or popping sounds in the jaw, and difficulty swallowing. To see an extensive list of the possible complications of TMD, please see the graphic, and for a better idea of what TMD is, we have provided the video below.
