Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

Keeping teeth and gums free of decay and disease not only benefits your oral health but also reduces the risk of potential issues forming throughout the body. When meeting with our team, we will begin by taking digital X-rays for a more in-depth view. We’ll then examine your mouth, checking for any problematic dental conditions before removing accumulated plaque and tartar from the surfaces of your teeth and gums. We’ll also floss and polish to ensure a healthier, refreshed smile.

Gum Disease Treatment

As a degenerative condition that forms when bacteria attack the teeth and gums, gum disease can spread and lead to bone and tooth loss. To minimize further harm to the mouth and body, Dr. Mahler can customize a plan that includes scaling and root planing, laser periodontal treatment, and/or antibiotic treatment. These methods help to eliminate plaque and inflammation, resulting in more effective healing and a reduced risk of reinfection.

Dentistry for Children

It is never too early for a child to adopt good oral hygiene habits. Establishing these practices at a young age can set a child up for greater success. This is why Dr. Mahler and our team are pleased to treat patients of all ages, including those who are just starting on their oral healthcare journeys. Offering preventive dental care and lip and tongue tie services, we can monitor the development of these young smiles as they grow.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride treatment is a quick and painless preventive solution that is designed to protect tooth enamel while also reducing the risk of tooth decay. Applied during a regular dental checkup, it is helpful to patients who are prone to cavities and who do not receive adequate fluoride exposure each day. Although commonly found in water, foods, and toothpaste, fluoride can be included in a six-month exam for an added layer of protection in between appointments.

Nightguards for Bruxism

Teeth grinding and clenching (bruxism) are often a sign of stress, a misaligned bite, or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. Dr. Mahler can examine your mouth to determine if a customized nightguard will reduce worn-down tooth enamel and/or chronic jaw pain. If so, the device will be crafted using digital impressions so that it is comfortable to wear at night. As a barrier between teeth, you will discover that you feel well-rested in the mornings and experience reduced pain in your teeth and jaw joints.
